About Us
Training is a crucial element in keeping ahead in business, and AP Courses offers training in IT and ’soft skills’ to cover many general areas and more specialised elements. AP Courses was formed in 1995 in response to the growing realisation that we all need to update our skills and learn new ones, or risk being left behind.
The company is part of AP Group, one of the world’s leading global offshore recruitment firms.
Courses are available in two forms: conventional tutor-led sessions - we have a fully equipped training room in our offices - and web-based ’e-learning’, which can be undertaken anywhere there is access to the Internet. Courses can be designed to suit the specific needs of the client.
Sometimes it is the individual who asks to go on the course, because he or she is aware that there is room for personal improvement in certain areas. In other cases it’s the company that identifies a need for training that will help the individual, department or firm as a whole.
E-learning Tutor-led learning
What is e-learning?
The Internet – and particularly the ability to access it without being at your desk – enables us to offer online courses that can be studied as and when you have the opportunity. Just log in and pick up where you left off – it’s like having a personal tutor available any time you like. Put in a session of several hours in the evening or at the weekend, or grab half an hour here and ten minutes there, as your schedule permits.
Each course starts with a pre-assessment designed to determine your current ability. This will remove all the topics in which you’re already competent, so you won’t be going over old ground.
It’s the 21st century way of studying. If you like the idea but are unsure of exactly how it works, contact us and we can arrange for you to try it out.
Tutor-led learning
The conventional way of learning, this offers interaction with the tutor, so that delegates can get answers to questions and solutions to problems there and then. There is also interaction with other delegates, so it’s not a solitary activity. Tutor-led students are given a certificate on completion.
We offer training in IT and ’soft skills’.
The latter are what complement the ’hard skills’, i.e. technique. They help to get things done when an individual already has the technical skills. Soft skills training includes areas such as communication (verbal and written), team building, leadership and management.
IT training
IT plays a part in virtually every sphere of life today and our comprehensive range of courses can help you with everything from the basics (including typing) to advanced levels right up to ECDL – the European Computer Driving Licence.
With this qualification there will be almost nothing you can’t do and the IT world will be your oyster. How many times do you hear people in the office muttering about being asked to carry out some computer-based task that they don’t understand? With the ECDL qualification that is unlikely to happen to you.
It starts by giving you a good understanding of how computers work, so you will learn about the hardware before moving on to what you can do with it. Word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentations (Powerpoint): it’s all here.
ECDL Foundation is the global governing body of the world’s leading end-user computer skills certification programme, which is known as International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) outside Europe.
